European leaders joined Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington on Monday in a rare display of unity to end the war with Russia.

President Trump today said he will not send U.S. ground troops to Ukraine as part of any security guarantees for that country. As part of Trump’s push for peace, the White House said that Russian president Putin has agreed to meet with Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy. NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell reports.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who has bonded with President Donald Trump over golf, gave NBC News an inside look at the White House meeting on Ukraine.

In an interview with NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell, Finnish President Alexander Stubb weighed in on the attempted peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He likened the possibility of Ukraine ceding land to Russia to the U.S. giving up multiple states.

Hurricane Erin is not likely to make direct landfall in the U.S., but the eastern seaboard is under the risk for coastal flooding and life-threatening rip currents.
