Toddler found safe at supermarket after car stolen in Melbourne

A toddler has been found safe and well after the car they were inside was stolen in Melbourne's south-east this afternoon.

Police confirmed with 3AW the child was found at Ferntree Gully Woolworths and has been reunited with family.

The black Kia Carnival, with the registration the 1WU5QT, remains missing and the offender on the run.

Police said the car was last seen parked on Cleeland Street in Dandenong about 3.25pm when it was stolen with the two-year-old inside.

Witnesses have reported seeing the vehicle driving towards Heatherton Road.

Police said the exact circumstances are unknown and are urging anyone who sights the vehicle is urged to contact triple zero (000).
