The toilet block at a Sydney elite school where water polo coach Lilie James was murdered is being demolished.

James, 21, was found dead in the St Andrew's Cathedral School gym bathroom late last Wednesday, October 25.

Police said she had suffered severe head wounds, and it is believed she was attacked with a hammer.

In an email to alumni, the head of the school Julie McGonigle confirmed the staff toilet area at the Sports Centre where James was found is being demolished.

McGonigle also revealed James' family had visited the school to see the floral tributes, cards and gifts left in memory of the 21-year-old.

"As with every time I have spoken to them, they showed deep concern and compassion for how our students are coping at this time," the email read.

"That in itself, is testament to the calibre of this family.

"Please continue to uphold them in your prayers."

A body believed to be that of fellow school employee, 24-year-old Paul Thijssen, was pulled from the waters off Vaucluse after her death.

Police continue to investigate James' death but no one else is being sought.
