he 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is wrapping up, and it has been notably active.
There were 18 named tropical storms, 11 of which became hurricanes, with five reaching major hurricane status (category three or higher). On average, a season produces 14 storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. While some records were equaled or broken this year, the activity was uneven, with a surprisingly quiet middle period despite the usual peak in September.
