At least 14 people have died after Cyclone Chido caused severe damage in Mayotte, a French territory in the Indian Ocean, France’s Interior Ministry reported on Sunday.

The powerful tropical cyclone has now hit the east coast of Africa, with aid agencies warning of more deaths and destruction in northern Mozambique. A tropical cyclone is a rotating storm similar to a hurricane in the Atlantic and Caribbean.
