Earthquake rocks Gippsland in Victoria's east

An earthquake has hit Victoria's east, just over three months after the state was rocked by its largest-ever earthquake.

The 2.8 magnitude tremor, which was three kilometres deep, occurred about 3.24pm on Tuesday.

Its epicentre was recorded near Moe in Gippsland.

Around 48 people have recorded feeling the earthquake.

A man has reported feeling it in Upwey, in Melbourne's outer east.

Victoria SES has said anyone who needs assistance following the earthquake should call 132 500.
