Shocking dashcam footage has captured the moment a motorcyclist, who is suspected of running a red light, slammed into a car and was flung through the air at a Melbourne intersection.

Video shows the moment the accident unfolds, with the rider clipping a four wheel drive at a busy intersection in Melbourne's south-east.

He was then catapulted, spinning across the road.

Incredibly, the man, aged in his 20s, escaped with non-life threatening injuries.

He was wearing a helmet and gloves but no other protective gear.
