Protein bar recalled across country over allergy risk

A popular protein bar has been recalled after it was discovered to contain the wrong product, leaving those with allergies at risk.

The product, Inc's Shred Max in Raspberry Coconut Flavour, 60g, available at Chemist Warehouse stores around the country has been recalled after it was found the bar instead contained the brand's Shred Max Peanut Caramel Flavour.

The mishap puts those with peanut allergies at considerable risk of an allergic reaction from consuming the product, which does not have peanuts declared on the label.

"The recall is due to incorrect packaging which has resulted in the presence of an undeclared allergen (peanut)," the NSW Government Food Authority said.

"The product packaging is for INC Shred Max Raspberry Coconut Flavour however the product inside is INC Shred Max Peanut Caramel Flavour."

People with peanut allergies are advised not to consume the protein bar.

Those who have purchased the product can return it for a full refund.
