One of the ocean’s most elusive and unusual creature has been caught on camera swimming around a group of excited tourists in Mexico.

The serpentine-like oarfish was filmed in shallow waters in the Baja peninsula in Mexico’s northwest.

One of the North American tourists asks if the fish is trying to beach itself as it swims around in a disoriented fashion, at one point passing under an onlooker’s kayak.

Until last June the fish had never been captured swimming on film but there have since been five separate sightings.
