Police have charged a man and a woman with murder and torture following the death of a seven-month-old boy in rural Queensland.

Officers were called to a house in Yugar, in the Moreton Bay region north of Brisbane about 6.45am.

The boy was found dead and a crime scene was established, police said.

A 22-year-old woman and 33-year-old man, both known to the child, were taken into custody at the scene.

They have both been charged with one count each of murder and torture.

They are due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
