A Sydney man will appear in court today accused of stabbing his mother and brother in what police allege was a premeditated attack.

About 5.40pm yesterday, emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing in a home on Sydenham Road in Marrickville.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a man, 25, for stab wounds to his face, neck, head and hand.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains now in a serious but stable condition.

A woman, aged 55, was also treated for a stab wound to the throat, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

She is expected to be discharged shortly, police said later this morning.

Jackyy Dang, 22, was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of causing wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.

Detective Inspector Ben Kennis told media this morning the arrested man was the brother of the 25-year-old and the son of the 55-year-old.

"We will allege (the accused) had been planning this for some time," Kennis said.

Dang's father was also in the house at the time, but not in the room when the alleged attack took place, and he managed to run out the front door and warn somebody who contacted emergency services.

He had arrived home at 5.30pm and was in the shower when the alleged attack happened.

"I've lost my hearing, I can't hear properly, so I (didn't) hear what was happening outside," he told 9News.

"I called the ambo but the police (came) first."

Kennis said it was believed the father was also intended as a potential victim.

He said it was believed nothing had happened yesterday evening to set off the alleged attack, and that it took place "without warning or provocation".

He said the family was not "known adversely" to police.

Celebrity favourite Australian fashion label Dion Lee has appointed voluntary administrators.

The company, which makes clothes worn by A-listers including Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Kylie Minogue is now under the control of insolvency firm dVT Group administrator Antony Resnick.

Administrators will continue running the business as a going concern as he urgently "assesses all options" relating to the US business.

The company has six shops in Australia and one in the US and also sells clothes online.

"We are in the very early stages of our administration process and our focus right now is on speaking
with the Australian and US-based team and getting across all the relevant operational and financial
data," Resnick told 9news.com.au in a statement.

"The Dion Lee brand has built global recognition and credibility in the world of high fashion.

"It is
regularly worn by cultural icons and influencers. It is noted in the industry for its unique designs.

"All
of which should attract both local and international investor interest."

The company was founded by the designer in 2009 and famously created the uniforms for Sydney Opera House staff.

T-shirts start at around $200 and dresses run from $500 into the thousands of dollars.

"The Dion Lee brand is one of a handful of Australian fashion labels that has been able to break into
internatinal markets in recent years and there is no doubt as to the high creative regard in which it
is held," Resnick said.

"However, until we progress our administration process it is too early to comment in any detail on its
current financial position other than to say our intention at this time is to operate the brand as a
going concern."

Australian high street brand Cue had a stake in the company but has withdrawn its investment.

"After a recent strategic review, a decision has been made by the Cue Group to focus on our local Cue and Veronika Maine operations," a Cue spokesperson told 9news.com.au.

It is understood Cue's exit accelerated the voluntary administration of the Dion Lee label.

A sex crimes detective has been found guilty of abusing his position by twice sexually touching a teen complainant without her consent but has been acquitted of raping her.

Glen Coleman was on trial accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman from March to May 2022 and abusing his position as an officer at Windsor Police Station.

He met the teenager at the station in February 2022 after she went in to make a complaint that her cousin had threatened to share naked images of her online.

During the trial at Penrith District Court, jurors heard the 57-year-old allegedly begged the woman for sex after he found out she had gone for an interview at a Sydney strip club.

Jurors heard he had texted the teen, asking her to send intimate naked images and requesting sex for money.

On Friday after about five hours of deliberations, the jury delivered its verdict finding that Coleman had sexually touched the woman without her consent once at a western Sydney park and again in an interview room at Windsor Police Station.

The officer has also been found guilty of abusing his position of public office to procure the woman for his own sexual gratification.

However, the jury acquitted Coleman of three counts of rape and four further counts of sexual touching without consent.

Coleman always contended that sex at in the interview room was consensual and denied had he touched the woman without her consent or free will.

He had his bail revoked after the verdict and will be held on remand until a sentence hearing on September 27.

A popular NSW ski resort may be forced to close this winter after a fire destroyed its sewage treatment system.

The Charlotte Pass snow resort issued a statement on Wednesday updating alpine enthusiasts after a fire last Friday gutted the resort's sewage treatment plant (STP).

"Following the fire the STP is still offline, with the village unable to process any wastewater from taps, showers or toilets at this time.

"Charlotte Pass Village remains closed to the public and no access is available."

The statement outlined the options for the resort for the upcoming snow season, all of which, it said, "present significant challenges".

The options included trying to temporarily restore parts of the plant that were not affected by the fire, using a temporary "package" sewage treatment plant for the snow season or trucking the waste off-site to be processed at a different facility.

"Charlotte Pass will only progress with a solution where it can be confident on ensuring it can minimise any risk to the sensitive alpine environment the resort operates in," the statement said.

On-site assessments are underway with wastewater experts working with the resort to try and find a solution. 

Work is also underway to permanently restore the sewerage system for the 2025 season.

A businessman who conned international investors into handing over tens of millions of dollars as part of a National Disability Insurance Scheme charade will spend at least eight years in prison.

Demetrios "James" Charisiou, 63, duped two Korean-based firms into giving his company LBA Capital $394,740,000 in credit under the guise of investing the money into NDIS-supported properties in Melbourne.

None of the properties were purchased and most of the money sat in an account.

The 2019 ruse was sophisticated and complex, with Charisiou faking documents to get the money, Justice John Champion told the Supreme Court today.

Charisiou also met with representatives from the companies – JB Asset Management and KB Securities – when they flew out to Melbourne, the judge said.

As a successful businessman with an inflated sense of ego, backing out of the NDIS deal with the investors was not an attractive prospect for Charisiou, Justice Champion said.

"To your own folly, you have lost much that underpinned your way of life," the judge told Charisiou.

"The scale of your fraudulent activity was breathtaking, however must be kept in perspective."

About $38 million of the almost $395 million was the subject of charges against Charisiou, who pleaded guilty to two counts of using false documents and two counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

Justice Champion said while Charisiou was unlikely to reoffend, there was a risk he remained driven by his ego and "illusions of grandiosity".

The judge sentenced Charisiou to 12 years' jail, with a non-parole period of eight years.

The 63-year-old has already spent more than 190 days behind bars.

Three school students have been rushed to hospital after they were hit by a car in Melbourne's south-east.

A black Mitsubishi Triton ute allegedly struck three teenagers on O'Sullivan Road in Glen Waverley just after 3pm, according to police.

A 44-year-old man who was allegedly driving the ute stopped nearby.

A teenage boy has been taken to The Alfred Hospital with upper and lower body injuries.

He is in a serious but stable condition.

A teenage girl has been taken to The Royal Children's Hospital with upper and lower body injuries in a serious but stable condition.

The third teenage boy has been taken to Box Hill Hospital with minor upper body injuries in a stable condition.

Police said they are yet to catch up with a passenger who was inside the ute during the incident.

The driver is assisting police.

More than 100 people are feared dead after a massive landslide struck a remote village in Papua New Guinea.

The landslide is believed to have hit Kaokalam, a village in the Enga Province around 600 kilometres north-west of Port Moresby, the ABC has reported.

Residents said that the death toll may be more than 100, but authorities have not confirmed any figures yet.

Villagers said the number of people killed could be much higher.

Footage shared by residents on Facebook showed widespread damage to a village, with vehicles tipped on their side.

Some footage showed bodies being pulled from the scene – with huge rocks, plants and trees hampering any rescue efforts.

The Papua New Guinea government and police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The landslide is believed to have struck the area around 3am today.

It is not yet clear if emergency services have been able to reach the village.

Elizabeth Laruma, who runs a women's business association in Porgera, a town in the same province near the Porgera Gold Mine, said village houses were flattened when the side of a mountain gave way.

The landslide blocked the road between Porgera and the village, she said, raising concerns about the town's own supply of fuel and goods.

With 10 million people, Papua New Guinea is the most populous South Pacific nation after Australia.
