Multiple firearms, ammunition and drugs have been seized by police in an investigation into a shooting in Brisbane last month.

Police were probing reports of a shot being fired at Carina Heights shortly before a crash between BMW X4 and an allegedly stolen Mazda 3 on March 31.

Police raided a property on Knight Avenue, at Silkstone in Ipswich this Wednesday where they allegedly located ammunition and drugs including methylamphetamine and heroin.

An energy weapon was also allegedly found during the search.

A further search warrant was executed at an address on Winstanley Street in Carina Heights where another firearm was allegedly located, including ammunition and drugs.

An excavator reported stolen from Nundah in March, an allegedly stolen trailer and a Ford Ranger allegedly stolen from Logan Reserve was also found at the property.

At least five people were charged following the raids.

They include a 20-year-old man from Ripley, who was charged with failing to appear in court, receiving stolen property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He is also facing charges on discharging a weapon in a public place, contravening an order relating to device information and possessing explosives.

A 47-year-old Raceview man was charged with dangerous drugs possession and one count each of contravening an order about device information from a digital device, possessing utensils and a restricted item.

He is next due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 13.

A 35-year-old Springfield Lakes man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and discharging a firearm in a public place.

He is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 4.

A 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman have also been charged.

A man and woman have been taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing in Adelaide's northern suburbs overnight.

Police and paramedics were called to Coventry Road in Munno Para about 6.15 pm yesterday following reports of a violent assault. 

A 40-year-old man was found at the scene with serious injuries to the abdomen and a 40-year-old woman had suffered a laceration to the arm.

They were both taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 41-year-old suspect was apprehended at the scene by witnesses and he was taken into police custody where he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

He will be refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police said investigations are in its early stages but believe the persons involved were known to each other and it was not a random attack.

King Charles will return to public-facing duties next week for the first time since his cancer diagnosis, Buckingham Palace says.

The monarch, along with wife Queen Camilla, will visit a cancer treatment centre in London on Tuesday, to speak with others patients and medical specialists.

"His Majesty is greatly encouraged to be resuming some public-facing duties and very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said on Friday evening (3am on Saturday AEST).

Among the list of upcoming activities will be a state visit to the UK by the Emperor and Empress of Japan in late June, which was also announced overnight.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will also mark a year since their coronation on May 6 and today released a new photo ahead of the first anniversary.

The image of the couple was taken by portrait photographer Millie Pilkington in the Buckingham Palace garden on the morning of April 10 – the day after their 19th wedding anniversary.

The King was last seen publicly with Queen Camilla at an Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle, where the monarch briefly met with gathered crowds.

While the King is set to undertake a number of external engagements over the coming weeks, the palace has warned "it will not be a full summer programme" for His Majesty.

Appearances at his birthday parade, known as Trooping the Colour, along with Buckingham Palace garden parties and Royal Ascot will all be undertaken on a case-by-case basis.

"Planning continues for ways in which Their Majesties may attend such Summer and Autumn engagements, though nothing can be confirmed or guaranteed at this stage," the palace spokesperson said.

"All future plans remain subject to doctors' advice nearer the time."

They say forthcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary to minimise any risks to the monarch's continued recovery.

King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in February after the tumour was discovered during a procedure for an enlarged prostate in January.

While the type of cancer remains unspecified, the palace did say the monarch does not have prostate cancer.

The King's daughter-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, is also currently undergoing treatment for an unspecified cancer, which was also discovered during a routine operation in January.

A court was warned Daniel Billings' alleged behaviour was escalating towards his former partner Molly Ticehurst before he was released on bail days before her alleged murder.

Ticehurst, 28, was found dead at her home in Forbes on Monday, despite police telling a bail hearing that Billings' alleged behaviour was escalating to "the most disturbing conclusion".

Billings was arrested on April 5 and charged with 10 offences dating back to January, including sexual intercourse without consent, stalking and intimidation.

Police kept him behind bars.

A transcript from his appearance in Dubbo Local Court the next morning reveals the police sergeant argued there was a chance of "endangering" Ticehurst's safety if bail was granting, telling the registrar that "repeated threats" had been made to family members with "specific threats in relation to coming back, knowing where she lives and coming in the window".

Police Commissioner Karen Webb defended the sergeant's submissions to the court, saying "he articulated those very well, they were very strong submissions".

The sergeant asked the "court to scrutinise carefully any proposed bail conditions" but did not say the words "police oppose bail".

The registrar granted bail on the conditions that Billings report to police daily, not enter Forbes, and not go near Ticehurst.

When the case came before the court again on April 18, an apprehended violence order was issued.

Four days after the second court appearance, Ticehurst was found dead.

A 35-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly stealing a child from a primary school in Melbourne's inner suburbs today.

Police allege the woman walked into Fitzroy Primary School on George Street in Fitzroy and took a five-year-old girl about 9am.

The woman walked 600 metres with the child to Atherton Gardens on Brunswick Street about 9.40am, police said.

Police were notified when a member of the public spotted the woman and child.

She was arrested without incident.

The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment.

A Department of Education spokesperson said the primary school immediately notified police when it became aware of the "disturbing incident".

Detectives have charged the woman with kidnapping and she will appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tonight.

Victorian Labor MP Darren Cheeseman has resigned over allegations of "persistent, inappropriate behaviour in the workplace towards staff".

Premier Jacinta Allan confirmed in a statement that she had sought Cheeseman's resignation this afternoon.

Cheeseman has served as the member for South Barwon since 2018.

The premier said Cheeseman had agreed to resign but would remain a member of parliament and a member of the parliamentary Labor Party.

"Under the Ministerial Code of Conduct, Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries are expected to behave according to the highest standards of personal conduct in the performance of their duties and to behave in a way that upholds community expectations," Allan said.

"Under the Code, Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries must take all reasonable steps to maintain respectful and appropriate working relationships with their staff, staff of other Ministers and MPs, Parliamentary staff, VPS staff, and Ministerial and Parliamentary colleagues.

"The wellbeing of staff and their right to a respectful workplace is not negotiable."

Cheeseman previously served as a federal MP in the seat of Corangamite from 2007 to 2013.
