Rain and a thunderstorm could hit Melbourne in the middle of Melbourne Cup Day, when about 100,000 people are expected to flock to Flemington Racecourse for the biggest racing event of the year.

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a warm and humid day with the chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

Attendees have been encouraged to pack their rain jackets, with a 70 per cent chance of rain putting dampener on the day.

Senior Meteorologist Dean Narramore said the rain would likely appear in the afternoon and evening.

"Those heading to Flemington Racecourse should prepare for windy conditions with winds forecast to be north to northeasterly at a speed of 20 to 30 km/h, tending north-easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening," he said.

"Overall, for Victoria, it will be warm to hot and partly cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorm activity across all but the far west of the state, mainly during the afternoon and evening."

Storm activity may be severe over parts of central and eastern Victoria with the risk of large hail and damaging winds.

It will be a relatively warm and humid day with a minimum temperature of 16 degrees and a maximum of 29 degrees.

Police are hunting for two men who were captured on CCTV leaving the wreckage of a deadly car crash this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash at Maxwells Avenue in Ashcroft about 11.50am today after the car slammed into a tree and power pole, killing two boys believed to be aged between 10 and 15. 

The graphic vision, which 9news.com.au has chosen not to show in full, shows two men, one dressed in a dark hoodie and the other in hi-vis, clambering out from the carnage while the body of one boy lies lifeless on the driveway of a property.

One of the men attempts to move the body before he and the other man disappear out of frame.

A dirt bike rider, believed to have been trailing the car, is also filmed circling the crash scene before riding off.

Police said there is "a concerted effort" underway to locate the missing men.

Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden from NSW Police said the vehicle had been travelling "well above" the 50km/h speed limit before the crash.

"The vehicle has lost control, has impacted with a telegraph pole, causing the Falcon to be separated in half," McFadden said.

"Quite dramatically. Unfortunately, we believe that two males seated in the rear of the vehicle, aged between 10 and 15, were ejected from the vehicle and are deceased.

One witness told 9News she ran out from her house when she heard a loud crash sound.

"I came out, I go and say 'Oh my God, the car cut in half'," she said.

Another neighbour described the incident as "another tragedy that shouldn't have happened".

"Simple as that," he added.

McFadden said a wide-scale search was underway to locate those involved in the fatal crash. 

"There's now a concerted effort with combined resources from our commands supported by our aviation branch and the dog squad to identify and locate the driver and the front seat passenger," he said.

Police have cordoned off a residential street while officers have been seen scouring nearby scrubland with the assistance of sniffer dogs.

It's understood police may also be looking for the rider of a dirtbike who was seen trailing the vehicle.

"We're looking for that driver to present himself so we can speak with him," McFadden said.

"We don't know what role if any he has played in the crash. It's an active line of investigation."

McFadden said the investigation was in its early stages but there was no indication the sedan was stolen. 

"Just seeing the scene from the side of the road looking at the absolute destruction that's taken place to this vehicle," he said.

"And the loss of two young lives being ejected from that vehicle, anyone who would have witnessed that crash will no doubt be traumatised by it."

A crime scene has been established, which will be examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

A TikTok influencer has been found with serious facial injuries after he was allegedly beaten during a suspected kidnapping in Sydney's south-west.

Just after midnight on Saturday, a major police operation was sparked at a unit complex on Grazier Street at Lidcombe following reports a 36-year-old man had been assaulted and forced into a car.

The man has been identified as prolific TikToker, Jacob Najjar, who owns the Thirsty Monkey cafe chain.

He was later found on Lower Washington Drive in Bonnet Bay about 11pm on Sunday.

Paramedics treated him at the scene for facial injuries before he was taken to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have established Strike Force Rowallan to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
