Friends have today paid tribute to Bendigo mother-of-four Logee Osias after she was allegedly killed in her home overnight.

Emergency services were called to a home in High Street in Kangaroo Flat just before midnight to reports the 46-year-old had been stabbed.

Osias was found injured and rushed to hospital, but couldn't be saved.

A close friend of Osias said she was a loving mother who did "everything" for her children.

"She's a good mum, she's a good friend and she does everything for her kids and they adore her," the friend told reporters.

"She's just lovely, and everyone around her will say the same.

"As a mum, she's always there for her kids."

Around five hours after the alleged attack, police found a 44-year-old man in a reservoir near the woman's home.

The man was arrested and questioned by police.

It's understood he was known to Osias.

Firefighters are working to extinguish a bushfire that is burning close to homes south-west of Sydney.

The blaze is burning on Montpelier Drive in The Oaks, which is about 15 minutes away from Camden.

Rural Fire Service Superintendent John Welke has warned there will be a "significant deterioration in weather tomorrow".

"We are expecting winds forecast in the vicinity of 30km/h and quite a warm day," he said.

A local fire ban has been extended until midnight Friday.
