A man who allegedly stabbed his partner and their baby daughter to death suffers from a mental disorder, a court has been told.

Blake Matthew Seers, 38, allegedly killed his fiancée, Kate Paterson and the couple's daughter, April, at their home in Logan last Thursday.

The tragedy was discovered after Seers was struck by a car not far from the grisly crime scene, 30 kilometres south of Brisbane.

Police were trying to contact his next of kin when officers discovered the bodies of his fiancée and baby girl in the family's home.

Both died from critical injuries from an edged weapon, police said at the time.

Witnesses raised the alarm after seeing a man covered in blood running along a footpath before he was hit by a black utility about 300 metres from the family home.

A trail of blood was marked along the footpath, leading from the house in the hours after the killings.

Seers remains in hospital and did not appear as two charges of murder were mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court before being remanded to the Beenleigh court on March 25.

Defence lawyer Nicholas Andrews said Seers had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and would need medical support in custody.

The disorder is a chronic mental health condition combining schizophrenia symptoms, including hallucinations and delusions, with episodes of depression and mania, according to Queensland Health.

Outside the court, Andrews said it was a sensitive matter.

"Our thoughts are with those families and people affected by this tragedy," he said.

"But at times like this, I just need to remind myself that there is a job to do.

"There are mental considerations here, and we will be ensuring that those are raised through the appropriate legal channels."

A man has been charged after dramatic videos showed a ute flying down inner-city Melbourne streets on three wheels, crashing into multiple cars.

Police allege the Ford Ranger drove on the wrong side of the road and hit roughly 10 cars about 7pm yesterday before the man was arrested in Richmond and drugs were seized from the vehicle.

One video shows the ute screaming down the tram tracks on Church Street near Coles, steeply angled towards the front right, apparently with the front right wheel stuck at almost 90 degrees to the rest of the car, and sending up bright sparks from its rims.

Another shows the aftermath of the final crash on nearby York Street, where police said the driver hit four cars. A black car that apparently had been parked on the side of the road was forced up onto the car behind it after the ute crashed into it on the wrong side of the road.

Police allegedly saw the ute overtake them on Highett Street in Richmond about 6.50pm, giving chase in a "short pursuit" before the crash on York Street.

"The vehicle is alleged to have been travelling on three wheels into oncoming traffic, forcing motorists to take evasive action," police said.

The driver allegedly fled but was arrested a short time later.

Police alleged he crashed into about six other cars in the Collingwood and Fitzroy areas during the incident.

A 57-year-old female pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after she fell fleeing the scene.

He allegedly returned a positive oral fluid test and "a quantity of drugs" was found in the vehicle.

The Oakleigh man was charged with dangerous driving while pursued by police, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, criminal damage, possessing drug of dependence, drug driving and other traffic offences.

He was remanded in custody to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

Police called for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

The energy in the room shifts the moment Australia's very own Queen Mary and her husband King Frederik X of Denmark walk in.

You can hear a pin drop despite eager reporters and photographers, including myself, quietly jostling for the perfect shot inside the tiny room in South Melbourne.

The Danish royals are touring Australia this week – their first visit to Mary's ancestral home since becoming King and Queen in 2024 – and today embarked on a tour of headspace, a national youth mental health foundation.

Despite their packed schedule, the couple appear relaxed and happy in Mary's native Australia.

It's no surprise – the couple famously met at the Slip Inn in Sydney during the 2000 Olympics.

Mary and Fred demonstrated an easy rapport with each person they met and with every hand they shook, the tangible excitement in the room grew.

While Mary was whisked away during the visit for a private meeting, Frederik bravely challenged some of the youth advisors in a heated game of ping pong.

Fred played doubles and, despite channelling his inner Marty Supreme with a promising early lead, lost at the final hurdle.

Headspace's Matt was part of the lucky winning team who played a round against the King of Denmark.

He told Nine.com.au he was "very nervous" squaring up against the royal but said Fred was a "gracious" loser.

"I've already told about 10 people that I won and it's been five minutes, I'm very happy with ourselves," Matt said.

"They're both quite lovely," he added.

"You wouldn't pick that they were King and Queen."

Fred sheepishly admitted to his wife that he lost the game 5-4 when Queen Mary returned to the room later on.

"So disappointing," she joked, prompting a ripple of laughter throughout the press pack.

Earlier, the royal couple listened intently as the headspace crew spoke about the state of mental health in Australia and the barriers for seeking help.

Mary expressed surprise upon learning it is still hard for some young people to admit they are not OK.

"Is it still very stigmatised?" she asked headspace chief executive Jason Trethowan.

The Danish Queen is a long-time advocate for mental health and wellbeing, having championing the cause through her anti-bullying organisation The Mary Foundation.

Today marks the monarch and his wife's final day in Melbourne, after visiting Uluru in the Northern Territory and Canberra.

The couple will head to Mary's hometown of Hobart in Tasmania tomorrow, where a warm welcome is expected.

One royal fan had a split-second opportunity to remind Mary of her Tassie roots as she left headspace and greeted the waiting crowd.

"You'll get a great response in Hobart," he told the Queen.

The royals will also host a reception in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens later today.

High-rise apartments up to 20 storeys tall will be given the green light in parts of Melbourne's inner north under rezoned planning controls touted to help ease the state's housing crisis.

Premier Jacinta Allan and Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny today released finalised planning controls for 25 inner and middle-ring suburbs across Melbourne.

Four and six storey apartment blocks will be allowed in all 25 centres, depending on their distance to public transport.

The 'activity centres' aim to encourage higher-density developments near public transport hubs, to help Victorians who may have been priced out buy into well-connected areas.

"We understood that the status quo wasn't working. We understood we needed to do the hard, detailed work to change the planning rules, to change the planning controls, to get more homes built in these great locations," Allan said.

Towers up to 20 storeys high have been given the green light near train stations in Brunswick and Coburg.

Parts of Hampton, Oakleigh, Hawthorn and Kew will have 16-storey buildings.

"These reforms cut delays and give clear rules – so more millennials get into a home faster," Allan said.

Seven of the 'Train and Tram Zones' are perched along the new Metro Tunnel corridor, near Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Hughesdale, Oakleigh, Middle Footscray, West Footscray and Tottenham stations.

Another six sit along the Glen Waverley line, surrounding stations such as Tooronga, Darling, East Malvern, Holmesglen, Gardiner and Glen Iris.

Apartments 12 storeys tall will be allowed along the Sandringham line in North and Middle Brighton – despite recent protests.

Along the Sandringham lines, activity centre plans have been finalised for North Brighton, Middle Brighton, Hampton and Sandringham stations.

Hubs will also enfold Hawthorn, Glenferrie and Auburn stations on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines.

A zone surrounding Heidelberg station between Bell Sreet and Lower Heidelberg Road will have height restrictions between three and 10 storeys.

Three major tram corridors have also been identified as activity centres, with St Georges Road and High street in Thornbury and Kew Junction outlined for builds up to 10 storeys high.

"We want more Victorians to live in places that have great trains, trams, schools and jobs nearby – that's why we're making it easier to get more homes built," Kilkenny said.

The state government says the train and tram zones will unlock capacity for more than 300,000 homes in the outlined areas by 2051.

The Victorian opposition says it will tear up the plans if it wins the state election in November.

"Thousands of people have protested in my community and what the government has said is 'we're going to stick the middle finger up to you because we don't like your suburb'," Opposition spokesperson James Newbury said.

Kilkenny said public consultation for the activity centres was "the biggest consultation ever undertaken in this state's history".

Another 25 areas are still being planned, with the final plans expected to be released in the middle of the year.

A second hiker who fell while climbing up Mt Beerwah in the Sunshine CoastGlasshouse Mountains has died.

The 18-year-old was with his girlfriend and her sister on the mountain on Sunday when he and his partner suddenly fell off the rockface.

His girlfriend, 18, fell 60 metres and died at the scene, while he fell 90m and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition after suffering severe head injuries.

The man has now died from his injuries.

The other teenager was uninjured, but had to be met by search and rescue teams on the mountain, and she was suffering from shock.

The mountain was closed at the time due to heavy rain recorded in the region, and it was supposed to be opened the next day.

Its closure was extended until yesterday after the tragedy.

Senior Sergeant Kylie McLellan said the incident was an awful thing to happen.

"It's an extraordinarily sad and tragic accident today," he said.

"The falls occurred as a result of some late rain that made the terrain extremely slippery."

Australian major supermarkets insist there are "no changes" to grocery delivery prices in the face of the surging cost of fuel.

A Coles spokesperson told 9news.com.au that the supermarket chain was "keeping a really close eye on it at the moment", but there were currently "no changes" to the price of delivery orders.

Nine.com.au understands that Woolworths also doesn't have plans to alter prices at the moment.

However, the supermarket giants haven't ruled out price shifts down the track, declining to comment on future pricing.

It comes as grim new modelling from the major banks forecasts oil prices will hit $US110 a barrel in the coming weeks, before averaging out at $US90 between April and June.

That would likely see diesel and petrol prices average about $2.02/litre and $2.50/litre respectively, according to Westpac's head of business and industry economics, Sian Fenner.

The spiralling fuel prices have already prompted some fuel-reliant businesses to act.

Airlines including Qantas have hiked the price of airfares due to the cost of jet fuel, while today rideshare company DiDi Australia announced it would be increasing its fuel surcharge to compensate.

An Australian man from Melbourne could face prison in the United States after allegedly assaulting a federal officer at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Thomas Jesse Bingham, 35, was travelling on a domestic flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas when he allegedly approached a uniformed Transport Security Administration (TSA) officer who was exiting the bathroom.

It is alleged he approached the officer and accused them of stealing his backpack and passport, before he grabbed the agent by the shirt and pulled their lanyard off.

Bingham then allegedly grabbed and pulled the agent's hair, and pushed him into a glass wall.

The agent was later medically evaluated for pain in his hand and back.

Bingham was arrested by airport police, before being released from custody.

However, he was again arrested at LAX before boarding a flight to the United Kingdom.

He has been charged with assaulting a federal officer, and is set to appear in the United States District Court in Los Angeles today.

If he is found guilty of the charges, he could face eight years imprisonment in the US.

The matter is still being investigated by authorities, including Los Angeles Police.
