Brian Houston outraged after Hillsong sacks his wife Bobbie

Hillsong founder Brian Houston has vented his anger after his wife was sacked from the church, seemingly by text message.

Bobbie Houston has been a pastor at Hillsong since 1983 and is as well known to congregations there as her husband.

But she was made redundant after Mr Houston stepped down as the senior pastor last month.

Mrs Houston replied: "I don't even have words to express how cold and callous this has all become."

Mr Houston captioned the screenshot with his own outrage.

"After 39 years of exemplary service and extraordinary faithfulness and fruitfulness, this is the communication Bobbie received from the Hillsong Church board as she is made redundant (effective immediately) through no choice of her own," he wrote.

Brian Houston stepped down as Hillsong's senior pastor last month.

"She has relentlessly served God and served people as she stood side by side with me for four decades leading Hillsong Church, faithful in the good times and the tough times alike.

"And we are supposed to act like this is all ok. It's not! Our beautiful church is losing its soul."

Mr Houston resigned from his roles within Hillsong after he was accused of breaching the church's moral code in his interactions with two women.
