The Queensland Government has vowed to investigate the death of a coal miner near the town of Emerald overnight.

The man, aged in his 60s, suffered significant injuries after part of the ceiling and wall of the Gregory Crinum Mine, north of the agriculture and mining town of Emerald, collapsed.

He died at the scene, while two other men were hospitalised.

The man's family were notified of his death this morning.

The union, CMFEU Mining and Energy, said it was "shocked and saddened" by the death.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased mineworker," CMFEU said.

"Union check inspectors are attending the site and will undertake a thorough, independent investigation."

Resources Minister Scott Stewart paid tribute to the efforts of first responders.

"Any loss of life on our mine sites is unacceptable," Mr Stewart said.

"It is my expectation that the Mines Inspector will investigate this incident thoroughly and with diligence."

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was injured and airlifted to hospital in a serious condition with pelvic and leg injuries.

A third person was taken to Emerald Hospital in a stable condition after suffering a "medical event".

Police told 9News they were called to the mine following reports of the collapse at Lilyvale at 11pm, with investigations into the incident underway.

Workplace Health and Safety will take the lead on the investigation.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk offered her condolences to the late miner's family.

"I can assure Queenslanders this matter will have a thorough investigation by Resources Health and Safety Queensland," Ms Palaszczuk said.

Minerals Council of Australia CEO Tania Constable also expressed her condolences.

"We acknowledge the additional impact on friends, emergency responders and colleagues and we wish the two injured workers well on their recovery," she said.

"The minerals industry is committed to, and working hard on, eliminating fatalities, injuries and occupational illnesses, with a strong focus on building and sustaining respectful workplaces."

The fiance of a missing New York woman has confirmed a search is underway where she disappeared in Wyoming, as he returns to his parents' home in Florida.

Police say Gabby Petito was last seen in late August at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where the 22-year-old was travelling with her fiance Brian Laundrie.

She was reported missing on the weekend after her parents hadn't heard from her in a week.

Ms Petito last spoke to her mother via Facetime on August 23 or 24, and continued sending text messages to her up until August 30.

But her mother said she doesn't know for sure if those messages were sent by her.

Ms Petito's fiance released a statement via his lawyer, saying his family hope the missing woman is found and reunited with her family and they will not comment further on the matter.

"On behalf of the Laundrie family, it is our hope that the search for Ms Petito is successful and that Ms Petito is reunited with her family," Steven Bertolino, an attorney for Mr Laundrie, said in a statement yesterday afternoon.

"On the advice of counsel, the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment."

The van Ms Petito and Mr Laundrie were travelling around Wyoming in has been collected as evidence.

Mr Laundrie has not been charged with a crime, but media in the US have reported that his parents had declined to make him available to speak with investigators.

Ms Petito had been posting in a YouTube channel about travelling the country with her boyfriend in a van.

The case is now a missing persons investigation in Suffolk County, on New York's Long Island.

"Gabrielle Petito was traveling in a white, 2012 Ford Transit van with Florida licence plate QFTG03 with a companion when she stopped communicating with friends and family," a statement from Suffolk Police read.

"The van she was travelling in has been recovered.

"She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that reads 'let it be'."

Suffolk Police are working with the FBI field office in Tampa Bay, Florida, near her fiance's home.

The van they had been travelling in was recovered at her fiance's parents' home.

Police have not revealed if her fiance is a suspect in her disappearance, but he has not been charged with anything.

Ms Petito's father Joe told Newsday that her disappearance is like "drowning with your hands tied behind you".

"You can't describe it. There's nothing you can do," Mr Petito said.

"You can't control anything."

Ms Petito last posted on Instagram on August 26, and on YouTube several days earlier.

Qantas has scheduled international flights to recommence from mid-December 2021, offering bookings to destinations such as London and Los Angeles.

The national airline's online booking site is accepting bookings for Sydney and Melbourne to London flights on December 18, with flights also scheduled to Vancouver and Singapore on the same day.

On December 19 flights are also scheduled to Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hawaii and Fiji.

Currently, the flights for mid-December are primarily scheduled to depart from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The decision to recommence international travel was first announced by the airline on August 18.

As revealed in his August strategy note, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce noted that the final decision on the country's international borders rests in the hands of the Federal Government.

"It's obviously up to government exactly how and when our international borders re-open, but with Australia on track to meet the 80 per cent trigger agreed by National Cabinet by the end of the year, we need to plan ahead for what is a complex restart process," Mr Joyce said.

"We can adjust our plans if the circumstances change, which we've already had to do several times during this pandemic.

"Some people might say we're being too optimistic, but based on the pace of the vaccine rollout, this is within reach and we want to make sure we're ready."

The airline has said the rest of its international network is planned to open up from April 2022.

"On current projections, Australia is expected to reach National Cabinet's 80 per cent vaccination threshold in December 2021, which would trigger the gradual reopening of international borders," the airline notes on its website.

"While COVID-19 has shown that circumstances can change unexpectedly, the long lead times to restart our international operation mean we need to prepare well in advance.

"If assumptions change or dates move, our restart plans will be adjusted accordingly and we'll keep you updated."

The Federal Government's ban on overseas travel is in force until at least December 17.

Mr Joyce has signalled that passengers will need to be fully vaccinated to fly, but the airline has not yet brought in an official policy for passengers.

A woman from Victoria's east has allegedly stolen $14,700 by fraudulently claiming cash support meant for people who have suffered the impact of bushfires and flooding.

Police have charged a 30-year-old woman from Traralgon with nine counts of obtaining property by deception, and three counts of attempting to obtain property by deception.

Following an extensive investigation, they allege the woman has profited from multiple payments from the Bushfire Relief Fund and the Gippsland Flood Relief Payment Scheme she wasn't entitled to.

The woman allegedly made fraudulent applications for the benefit schemes using a variety of names and addresses in January, June, and July, receiving a total amount of $14,700.
