Four children hospitalised after powerful wind gust blew jumping castle away

A freak accident involving a jumping castle in Sydney's south-west has left four children in hospital.

A powerful gust of wind blew the jumping castle from a backyard in Kelvin Park Drive, Bringelly, about 9.30am.

A group of boys aged nine to 13 were inside at the time.

Three nine-year-olds, a 12-year-old, and a 13-year-old were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.

"Four of those patients were driven to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition and one patient was not transported," NSW Ambulance's Tom Burness said.

The Bureau of Meteorology said wind gusts of up to 74km/h had been recorded in nearby Canterbury, and 89km/h at Sydney Airport.

Ninety Jetstar flights grounded after urgent Airbus A320 recall

A global aeroplane recall has seen Jetstar cancel dozens of flights leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

Queues at airport terminals, including Sydney and Melbourne, snaked hundreds of metres this morning, as the airline was hit by a flight-control software issue related to plane manufacturer Airbus.

Airbus says a significant number of its best-selling A320 planes are being pulled in a move that industry sources say would disrupt half the global fleet.

Jetstar told 9News they were forced to cancel 90 flights across the network today, with several others delayed.

"Due to an Airbus fleet software issue affecting Airbus A320 and A321 operators globally, some of our Airbus-operated flights are unable to depart today," the airline says online.

"Safety is our number one priority. To respond to a precautionary action from Airbus, we have cancelled some Jetstar flights.

"If you are booked to travel today and your flight is delayed or cancelled as a result of this issue, we'll contact you directly via SMS and email to advise of your options including a refund to your original form of payment."

In Australia, 34 of Jetstar's 85 Airbus A320s are affected, each requiring a software fix that takes about three hours per plane.

The air carrier said minor flight disruptions may continue tomorrow.

Departure screens at Sydney show multiple cancellations this morning.

However flights leaving this afternoon are so far showing up as on time at both Sydney and Melbourne.

Passengers should check online before heading to the airport.

Air New Zealand services are also affected.

Airbus says it's related to a "solar radiation" issue on a plane.

"Analysis of a recent event involving an A320 Family aircraft has revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls," Airbus said in a statement.

"Airbus has put out a directive that the aircraft, the A320 aircraft, of which there are more than 10,000 around the world, have to have a software update to correct for an error in data when there's intense solar radiation," pilot and aviation expert Richard de Crespigny said.

"So it's not suggesting that there's something wrong with the actual flight controls themselves."

"The problem is that you have to update all the aircraft in your fleet."

"If you've only got a couple of engineers that have turned up for work, you'd need them to pull in many more."

"You've got to wait for the aircraft to land."

"Maybe the aircraft has been in a hangar overnight. It's just a problem of scheduling all the aircraft to be updated quickly, that's all."

It's the second day of chaos at Melbourne Airport after a fire caused the evacuation of the Qantas terminal.

Plane loads of passengers were stuck on the tarmac for almost two hours last night, after emergency crews put out a blaze in a storage room in Terminal 1.

Anthony Albanese marries Jodie Haydon in private ceremony at The Lodge

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has married long-time partner Jodie Haydon in an intimate ceremony at The Lodge this afternoon.

The couple shared a brief statement after the private event, which makes history as the first time an Australian prime minister has wed whilst in office and the first to marry at the PM's official residence.

"We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends," the couple said.

The couple wrote their own vows and walked down the aisle to Ben Folds' song The Luckiest.

Haydon was walked down the aisle by her parents, wearing a dress by Sydney designer Romance Was Born.

Albanese wore a suit by MJ Bale, and his much-loved dog Toto was the ring bearer.

The couple left the ceremony to Stevie Wonder's Sign, Sealed, Delivered.

They will share their first dance to the Frank Sinatra classic The Way You Look Tonight, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The newlyweds will take a short honeymoon within Australia from Monday until Friday.

'I couldn't imagine life without her'

Albanese and Haydon met in 2019 at a business dinner and bonded over their love of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Haydon, who grew up on the NSW Central Coast, accompanied the prime minister throughout his 2022 and 2025 election campaigns.

Albanese proposed to Haydon on Valentine's Day last year, making him the first Australian prime minister to get engaged while in office.

The pair kept plans for their nuptials tightly under wraps, largely for security reasons due to rising concerns around political violence across Australia.

In August, the PM revealed the ceremony would be a small affair, with no international figures on the guest list.

"It's not a political event. It's an event between myself and Jodie," Albanese told Brisbane radio station B105.

Albanese has spoken in the past about the moment he decided Haydon was the woman he wanted to marry.

"This," he told the reporter while gesturing towards The Lodge, "will end one day, and the thing about our relationship is that we enjoy spending time together. Just us. So, when it became clear to me that Jodie was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, and that I couldn't imagine a life without her, I made the decision."

Before popping the question on Valentine's Day last year, Albanese said he first spoke to Nathan, his son.

"I respect him and have a good relationship with him, and with his mother. So I asked him to think about it, and then he came back to me and Nathan was supportive. He wants me to be happy, and Nathan and Jodie have a really nice relationship as well."
