Greg Hunt has been discharged from hospital after treatment for a bacterial infection.

The Health Minister was admitted to hospital on Tuesday after contracting the bacterial infection cellulitis in his leg, which caused him to develop a fever.

"I want to thank the extraordinary staff at both St Vincent's Public and Private Hospitals in Sydney who took care of me during my stay," Mr Hunt said in a statement today.

Mr Hunt will return to work in parliament on Monday.

He's still on a course of antibiotics.
