Police are investigating after a man sustained severe burns to his body in the Queensland's Bundaberg region yesterday.

Police said a 36-year-old Avoca man stopped to speak to another man known to him on Maryborough Street in Walkervale between 1pm and 1.30pm.

"In the course of events, the Avoca male sustained severe burns to his body and was transported to the Bundaberg Hospital for treatment," officers said.

Police are appealing for anyone who has dashcam footage from within the vicinity of Maryborough and Maynard Streets around that time.

Investigations are continuing.
