Two men have today been charged with the murder of young Melbourne rapper Chris Habiyakare.

An 18-year-old Broadmeadows man and a 19-year-old Ascot Vale man from have each charged with murder as part of the investigation into the death of the 24-year-old Sunshine North man.

Mr Habiyakare was shot at his Essex Street home on the evening of August 24 and died at the scene, despite treatment from paramedics.

Police made two appeals for information earlier this month in their search for those responsible for the death.

The two men charged will both appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court later this evening.
