Man denied bail after allegedly stealing Nick Kyrgios' Tesla, holding mum at gunpoint

A man has faced court after allegedly holding tennis star Nick Kyrgios' mother at gunpoint before stealing his car in Canberra.

A 32-year-old man wearing dark clothing with his face covered allegedly threatened Kyrgios' mother Norlaila at a Watson home with a long-barrel gun around 8.30am yesterday.

Court documents state Kyrgios used the Tesla app on his phone to track his car and also slow it down.

ACT Police said an initial attempt to stop the car in Downer was unsuccessful and a pursuit was abandoned due to safety concerns.

Officers then set up a cordon and the driver was arrested around half an hour later.
