Partner charged with murder over alleged stabbing of Melbourne mum

A man has been charged with murder following the alleged stabbing of his long-term partner in Melbourne's south-east earlier this week.

Sven Lindemann, 51, was today charged with murder and recklessly causing injury after Monique Lezsak was found dead with stab wounds in Endeavour Hills on May 30.

It's understood Lezsak's 10-year-old daughter, a twin, was also injured when she stepped in and tried to help her mother.

Her daughter's injuries have been described as "serious" by Victoria Police.

Lindemann also sustained injuries to his upper body and remains under police guard at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

He faced court this afternoon via a video link .

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance in October.
