Former scout leader charged with historical child sexual abuse offences

A former scout leader has been charged with historical child sexual assault and indecent assault offences.

In 2021, detectives from Riverstone Police Area Command in Sydney's north-west started investigating allegations a man had sexually assaulted a teenage girl he knew between 2005 and 2006.

As part of ongoing investigations, police received additional reports of alleged acts of indecency committed against four young boys when the man was a leader of a scout group between 1980 and the mid-1990s.

Investigators arrested a 62-year-old man at Dean Park about 9.40am yesterday.

He was taken to Riverstone Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent, three counts of indecent assault on a male, and one count of inciting a person under 16 years to commit an act of indecency.

He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today.
