Residents in Sydney's Inner West were forced to evacuate after a large car fire overnight.

A Range Rover went up in flames on Crystal Street in Rozelle at 3.30am today, forcing neighbours to evacuate as a precaution.

9News understands the fire was so large it took a power pole down with the car.

Fire and Rescue crews were able to extinguish the blaze, however, the car was completely destroyed. 

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the fire.
