World reacts to Prince Philip's death
Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, has died aged 99, the family has announced.
"It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

Prince Harry and Meghan shared a short, solemn tribute to the Prince's grandfather through their charity foundation.
In a simple sign of mourning, the Archewell Foundation's website went dark on Friday afternoon (Saturday morning AEST), with a short message.
"In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021," the message reads.
"Thank you for your service…you will be greatly missed."
Other members of the British royal family have responded to the death of Prince Philip on social media.
The Twitter and Instagram accounts for Prince Charles and Camilla, and Prince William and Kate have both shared the official announcement by the family's main account.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says flags across Australia will be flown at half mast for Prince Philip, who "embodied a generation that we will never see again."
"Australians send our love and deepest condolences to her Majesty and all the Royal family," Mr Morrison said in a statement tonight.
"The Commonwealth family joins together in sorrow and thanksgiving for the loss and life of Prince Philip. God bless from all here in Australia."
Prince Philip "was no stranger to Australia", having visited more than 20 times and presided as patron or president of almost 50 Australian organisations.

Given his own naval service, Prince Philip also had a strong connection with the Australian Defence Force.
"For 65 years, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme has encouraged over 775,000 young Australians to explore their leadership potential," the Prime Minister said.
"Forty thousand young Australians are currently participating in the program."
Further details about Australia's remembrance of Prince Philip will be announced over coming days.

WASHINGTON — Former US President Barack Obama said his thoughts were with the Queen, her family and the British people.
"Through his extraordinary example, His Royal Highness Prince Philip proved that true partnership has room for both ambition and selflessness — all in service of something greater," Mr Obama said on Twitter.

LONDON — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke outside 10 Downing Street, saying "Prince Philip earned the affection of generations here in the United Kingdom, across the Commonwealth, and around the world.
"He was the longest-serving consort in history, one of the last surviving people in this country to have served in the Second World War, at Cape Mattapan, where he was mentioned in dispatches for bravery, and in the invasion of Sicily, where he saved his ship by his quick thinking."
The Prime Minister described Prince Philip as "an environmentalist, and a champion of the natural world long before it was fashionable".

PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron offered his "sincere condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the royal family and the British people upon the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, who lived an exemplary life defined by bravery, a sense of duty and commitment to the youth and the environment."
MADRID — The Spanish royal family expressed their "deep sorrow" at the death of "our dear uncle Philip".
Members of the two royal households are related as descendants of Britain's Queen Victoria.

VALLETTA, Malta — The prime minister and president of Malta, a British Commonwealth country, expressed their sorrow at the death of Prince Philip, who was stationed in Malta early in his marriage to Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Philip handed over the formal independence documents to Malta's prime minister in September 1964, ending 165 years of British rule.

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a condolences telegram to the Queen that Prince Philip was respected at home and around the world.
