In many islands of the Caribbean homes lack formal addresses, due to factors like streets not having consistent names and homes not having numbers. So people will often have to use addresses like ” the green house on the corner behind the third pink house up the hill.”

This can lead to problems in delivering mail, having emergency services attend at the right place, reporting utility failures, utility billing, and  problems with navigation and mapping. For example taxis may not be able to easily find addresses.

Anna Goldman, a primary care physician at Boston Medical Center, got tired of hearing that her patients couldn’t afford the electricity needed to run breathing assistance machines, recharge wheelchairs, turn on air conditioning, or keep their refrigerators plugged in. So she worked with her hospital on a solution.

The result is a pilot effort called the Clean Power Prescription program. The initiative aims to help keep the lights on for roughly 80 patients with complex, chronic medical needs.

At least 14 people have died after Cyclone Chido caused severe damage in Mayotte, a French territory in the Indian Ocean, France’s Interior Ministry reported on Sunday.

The powerful tropical cyclone has now hit the east coast of Africa, with aid agencies warning of more deaths and destruction in northern Mozambique. A tropical cyclone is a rotating storm similar to a hurricane in the Atlantic and Caribbean.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming national security adviser has raised concerns about unexplained drones flying over eastern U.S. states.

He emphasized the need to investigate their origins and determine if they pose any threat.

Florida Republican Representative Michael Waltz, who will join Trump’s team after the president-elect takes office on January 20, told CBS’s Face the Nation that understanding these drone sightings is a priority.

The Jamaican Senate has voted to reduce the import duty on electric bikes  to 10 per cent. The tax used to be 20%.

It seems likely that the tax reduction will also apply to e-scooters, although the government announcement was not specific about this.
