Barbados Port Juggles Passengers And Freight With ‘No Cargo’ Days Pending New Berth.

During peak season, delays can happen. Over the last two days, three cargo vessels discharged over 100 containers each. This caused congestion, with containers stacked high, requiring extra work to retrieve them. Normally, four delivery lanes are used, but due to space issues, only three lanes were available.

The port is building a new Berth 6 at a cost of $108 million, expected to finish in June 2025. This will allow cruise and cargo operations to run at the same time.
