Former political staffer Brittany Higgins has married her long-term partner David Sharaz on the Gold Coast, surrounded by family and friends.

Higgins, who has fought to change how women in politics are treated after she was raped by her former colleague Bruce Lehrmann in Parliament House in 2019, took to Instagram to share the news last night.

"Today I married my best friend. 🤍" she posted alongside three photos from the ceremony.

The pair married at The Valley Estate in Currumbin on the first day of winter.

Higgins and Sharaz got engaged on New Year's Eve in 2022, at Cape Byron lighthouse in Byron Bay NSW.

"I didn't want to enter another year without you knowing I want to spend all my years with you, Brittany Higgins," Sharaz posted the day after he got down on one knee.

"I'm the luckiest guy in the world."

Higgins and Sharaz met in Canberra in 2020.

They now live in the south of France.

The wedding comes six weeks after Justice Michael Lee handed down his judgment in Lehrmann's defamation case against Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson, finding "Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins" in a senator's office in March 2019.

Higgins released a lengthy statement after the ruling.

In it, she said: "It has been five years of criminal and civil trials and government inquiries for the truth to finally be heard.

"It is now time to heal."

A Brisbane dad was left bloodied, bruised, confused and with signs of a concussion.

Andrew McKenzie was coward punched in the heart of the city, in an unprovoked attack which left the 52-year-old in hospital.

Now he's appealing for help in finding his attacker, who is still on the run weeks after the incident on Queen Street.

McKenzie's recollection of the frightening assault is patchy.

He knows he was on his way home and believes it was around 5.30pm.

"On Friday the 10th, if, if that's the day, it was a normal work day in the city," he told 9News.

"I've got recollections of either waiting in a cab line, waiting in a bus line."

He was one of thousands of city workers spilling onto CBD streets but without rhyme or reason he was the one two young thugs decided to target.

"You know, I'm a 52-year-old guy in a business shirt and suit pants … with a computer rucksak over my shoulder, walking down the street," he said.

His partner Sarah Robins was terrified after her phone rang.

"He called me, facetimed me, and said he'd been attacked and then his phone cut out," she recalled.

"People die from a single punch."

McKenzie was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital before being discharged early the next morning.

In the days after, things went from bad to worse – he was dizzy and in pain.

And a week on from the hit, suffered a fall at home.

"That was the scariest medical episode and day of my life," he said.

McKenzie's now recovering from his physical injuries but there's also emotional impact of what happened that night.

He doesn't know if he'll feel safe walking the city streets again.

"All the ladies who have to work in the city and I now understand how they might feel scared walking down certain streets and at certain times."

Making him feel more unsafe is the fact that his attackers are still out there.

Police are investigating. They hope security vision from nearby businesses will help piece together the gaps in McKenzie's memory.

A search is underway to find a person who is believed to be trapped underneath the rubble of a partially collapsed townhouse after an explosion occurred in Sydney's west.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Waikanda Crescent in Whalan, which collapsed after an explosion about 12.50pm.

"There is still one person believed to be under the rubble," Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Ross Genders said.

"At this time, all we know is they're alive," Genders said.

"We have heard taps and noises, and those are generalised as being an indicator that they're alive."

Five people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries, including a woman in her 60s and a wheelchair-bound woman in her 70s.

The five people are in stable conditions.

Three were taken to Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital and two were taken to the Hawkesbury District Health Service.

Rescuers are focusing their search towards the back side of the building, where the most rubble has collapsed.

Rescuers are continuing the process of carefully removing the rubble piece-by-piece.

The missing person was believed to be on the second level of the building when the floor collapsed in the blast.

Intensive care paramedics remain on the scene.

"The large blast blew out windows and damaged neighbouring townhouses in the multi-apartment complex," Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement.

Police have said that it could take days to determine the cause of the explosion.

"There was a light, a bright light, then boom, my kitchen window blew out first, then the ceiling collapsed", nearby resident Walter told 9News.

"There's glass all over my verandah, two of my bedroom windows were smashed out, and my lounge room was smashed as well," nearby resident Leanne Ansell said.

The gas supply to the area has been cut off.

Fire and Rescue NSW said the danger had been isolated to the area of the collapse.

More than a dozen Fire and Rescue units were deployed including HAZMAT and aerial drone units.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the scene, and local traffic diversions are in place.

MetService had forecast northwesterly winds for Canterbury today.

The crash was reported around 5:30pm.

She died today.

Three teenagers have been charged after they allegedly stole a Melbourne woman's car while armed with a machete.

The woman was in her car when she was allegedly approached by the three teenagers at Williams Landing around 3pm on Thursday.

Police allege the teenagers threatened the woman, forced her to leave the car and drove away in it.

In an interview with 3AW, the woman alleged one of the teenagers threatened to kill her

The woman was not physically injured and reported the incident to police.

The three teenagers were arrested in Taylors Lake several hours later.

The woman's Lexus SUV was returned to her.

Several of the woman's neighbours told 9News they were horrified over the incident.

Two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old were charged with aggravated carjacking.

All three will appear in children's court at a later date.
