Father Isaac Royel has been released from hospital after he was stabbed in an alleged terror attack on Monday, as police make their first arrest of an alleged rioter gathered after the stabbing.

The priest was injured during a terror attack at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley on Monday night.

He suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and hands while trying to get the 16-year-old alleged attacker off of Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.

He was discharged and returned home today.

The bishop is still at Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

It comes as police make their first arrest in relation to rioters who gathered outside of the church on Monday immediately after the terror attack, which was captured on a YouTube livestream of the service.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at a home in Doonside at 5.40 pm.

He has been taken to Blacktown Police Station. 

Police Minister Yasmin Catley said this afternoon that 32 investigators were working to identify those involved in the riots.

Five police officers were sent to hospital, with two suffering injuries after objects, like bricks and fences, were thrown at them by rioters.

Another 50 police vehicles were damaged, with 29 needing to be towed from the scene.

The church's congregation is about 300 people, however, an estimated 600 showed up, according to Police Commissioner Karen Webb.

"People not associated with the church turned up as an excuse to begin a riot," she said.

The 16-year-old who allegedly attacked the bishop and father remains under police guard at an undisclosed location, being treated for injuries including cuts to his hand.

Webb believed he acted alone. 

A Victorian grandfather says he feared he would die when two strangers attacked him at his site in a caravan park.

The incident came after a roadside argument.

Ian, 70, said he was returning to his Berwick caravan park on Monday evening last week when he slowed down behind a woman and two children walking on the road.

"So I just followed her through and then she turned around, saw me, stepped back and I put my window down to apologise in case she was startled and she started to abuse me," he said.

After some back and forth, Ian continued on to his caravan but the woman followed.

The 70-year-old said she left but 20 minutes later, as he was cooking a steak, two men turned up.

"As I've turned around, he's grabbed the fork out of my hand, thrown it on the ground and then just king hit me three times," Ian said.

Ian said the "gutless pieces of shit" left him with a bruised face, busted eye and bleeding on the brain.

Injured but conscious, he drove himself to Narre Warren police station, where officers called an ambulance.

He has made an official report, provided witness statements and has CCTV of a tradie van he said the men were travelling in.

"Police have been given a lot of information to lead to this person, but yeah, at this stage we're still waiting for that to happen, for an arrest to be made or even an interview," Ian's son Michael said.

Police confirmed they were investigating.

With his holiday cut short and the van in storage, Ian is desperate for more to be done.

"To be beaten like that, it's just so bloody close … the next one's in a box in the ground."

Benjamin Cohen has begun defamation proceedings against Seven West Media after he was wrongly identified as the man who carried out a mass stabbing at a shopping centre in Sydney's Bondi Junction.

The 20-year-old university student has engaged representation from leading barrister Sue Chrysanthou from 153 Phillip Barristers and solicitor Patrick George from Giles George in his case.

Seven has been notified of the action and now has 28 days to respond.

"We have issued the Concerns Notice for Ben Cohen against Seven and we await their response," George said.

Seven has declined to comment on the matter.

Less than a day after six people were killed and a dozen were injured in a stabbing spree at the Westfield at Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon, Seven named Cohen as the "lone wolf attacker" who was shot dead by police on its website.

Hours later on Sunday morning, police would confirm the killer was 40-year-old Joel Cauchi who had recently moved from Queensland and had a history of mental illness.
