A devastated wife has opened up about how her Perth honeymoon turned into a nightmare when an alleged coward punch landed her husband in hospital.

Andreas Lehr was attacked by a stranger outside RAC Arena after singer Luke Combs' concert on Saturday night.

Kanisha Lehr is by her husband's side as the father of two prepares to spend his seventh night in Royal Perth Hospital, slowly recovering from bleeding on the brain and severe head trauma.

"We're super grateful for those people that were around to help him when he needed it the most and obviously to all of the staff here that are doing their best – everyone who is helping us get home to our kids," Mrs Lehr said.

The NSW resident said her husband's recovery could take days, weeks or months.

"He's not doing very well at the moment but each day is getting better," she said.

"It's the unknown that's so scary, we don't know how long it's going to take."

It was the pair's first visit to Perth and it took a devastating turn as the crowd walked shoulder-to-shoulder whilst leaving the concert.

"Andreas put his hand out to shake this fella's hand and asked him if he was okay and he's turned round and king hit him where Andreas has fallen to the ground," Mrs Lehr said.

Strangers, including off-duty nurses, rushed to the 36-year-old's aid.

"He got that medical assistance almost instantly, which has probably saved his life," she said.

Mr Lehr is hoping to get back to his home near Coffs Harbour but a medically-assisted flight to NSW is expected to cost more than $25,000.

The family of four is desperate for help and have organised a Go Fund Me page.

"Our two children, three and five, Mason and Kelly, they're at home wondering 'where's mum and dad?'," Mrs Lehr said.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

"There's a few sentences and words he can string together that actually make sense," Mrs Lehr said.

"Getting home to my kids is top of the list [for Mr Lehr], I hear it all the time."

Three teenagers have gone on a rampage inside a Gold Coast gym.

CCTV shows the three boys forcing their way inside a 24-hour gym and going upstairs before hurling exercise equipment to the floor below.

Plates, 10-kilogram medicine balls and a chair were sent flying from the mezzanine, narrowly avoiding two innocent gym-goers.

"I got a call from my wife at 5am saying that the gym was trashed," gym owner Casper Turner said.

"They've thrown food and drinks around in the gym and scattered rubbish everywhere.

"They've gone up onto the mezzanine, thrown all of the medicine balls off the top, they've thrown all the chairs from the tables off the top and all the gym balls just through the gym."

Turner, who opened the Pimpama gym last year, said the area has been repeatedly targeted by young crime but he never thought it would affect his business.

He said the group left behind a mess and a repair bill in the thousands.

"We just did a massive clean to get all the rubbish and all the sticky stuff off the floor, got it up to scratch, now we've just got to deal with the damage side of it," he said.

In the hours after, Turner turned to Facebook to try to find the trio and vent his frustrations.

He posted to his followers "their lifting technique could do with some work… especially to help them not put weights through all the plaster walls in my gym".

Turner managed to track down the three teenagers to a service station and spoke to them before providing their details to police.

He said anyone contemplating doing something similar should know they're going to get caught.

"Go talk to the boys who did this last night, I found them in four hours," he said.

"It's not going to happen again and if it does we'll find ya."

Police have charged a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy each with one charge of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence.

The third teenager police claim was responsible remains on the run.

The parents of a boy, who claim he was sexually abused by his high school teacher, have contacted the NSW police minister hoping the case will be reopened.

Cherina and Rob Gray from the state's north-west said they want fresh eyes on the police investigation and have emailed Police Minister Yasmin Catley's office requesting an urgent meeting.

It comes after the Department of Education yesterday sacked teacher Annabel Doust.

The former principal's name has also been placed on the department's not-to-be-employed list after its investigation found she crossed professional boundaries with Dean Gray when he was a 17-year-old student at Narrabri High School and engaged in a sexual relationship with him in 2013.

"Justice has almost been served," according to Dean's parents.

Mr Gray told 9News: "It's not really a win because we still have a lot to process over time and there are still a lot of unanswered questions."

Dean's grieving mother Cherina said: "We'd like to see it (the police investigation) reopened because the education department has actually confirmed or verified that they identify a sexual relationship's taken place."

It has been seven long, painful years since they first complained to the Education Department and NSW Police and it's taken its toll.

"I don't think any family should have to go through what we went through," they said.

In 2021, the Gray family was struck by tragedy when Dean drowned in the Namoi River while on a camping trip with friends.

Then came more incomprehensible pain. 

Cherina stumbled upon thousands of old messages on his Facebook account from the teacher, who was 49 at the time. Dean was 17.

The messages confirmed what they had suspected for years.

"It's been traumatising for Cherina because she's done all the groundwork," Mr Gray said.

The exchanges online included the following:

"Hey there  – I just marked multiple choice. U & a couple of others got 11/15 & that was the top score so great start," the teacher wrote.

"It comes as no surprise to me that all the girls would like you. I'm so jealous they can just call you and say 'come over'."

"I'm not interested in any of them. Only you," Dean replied.

"I so love you," the teacher said.

"Your (sic) my girl," Dean said.

"Yes I am," the teacher said.

"Miss?" Dean asked.

"But don't u think that makes me sound a bit paedophily (sic)?" the teacher said.

"Marry me?" Dean asked.

"Ok. when I get out of jail for corrupting you," the teacher said.

No criminal charges have ever been laid against Doust, nor is she facing any. 

Dean's parents also now want her banned from all schools – public and private.

The Department of Education said the safety and welfare of children and young people is of paramount concern and it has robust policies and procedures in place for their care and protection.

The department also confirmed an initial investigation by their Professional and Ethical Standards Directorate started in December 2016 and concluded in May 2018.

Appropriate action was taken in line with available information.

A second investigation started in April 2022 when new evidence was presented and has now concluded. 

A hearing was held without him after he failed to show up for court more than 25 times.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a police officer multiple times during an arrest in South Australia.

Police were called to Ceduna after reports of a domestic violence assault at a home on Thursday night.

When officers arrived they found the victim, a 34-year-old woman, with a number of injuries.

She was taken to hospital in a stable condition. 

When two officers attempted to arrest the suspect, a 28-year-old man, he allegedly became violent towards police and stabbed the female officer in the chest several times.

She was saved from serious injury due to her stab-proof vest.

The man was Tasered and arrested.

The 28-year-old has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and assaulting emergency services workers.

He was refused bail and faced Ceduna Magistrates Court on Friday.

Since 2021, all South Australian police officers have worn the stab and bulletproof vests on duty.

Shark nets have been installed at beaches across NSW to reduce rates of attacks ahead of summer.

The nets have been installed at 51 beaches from Palm Beach in Sydney's north to Cronulla in the south, as well as the Illawarra, Newcastle and Central Coast from today.

Nets are installed from September 1 to April 30 to reduce the rates of human interactions with sharks but they cannot guarantee an attack won't happen.

"The NSW government is continuing the program in its current form for the upcoming summer swimming season, with a mix of traditional and modern technologies along the NSW coastline," a NSW Department of Industries spokesperson said in a statement.

The state's shark management is one of the largest in the world, including 305 SMART drumlines across 19 LGAs.

There will be 37 tagged stark listening stations and drone patrols.

Sometimes shark netting is removed for bad weather and reset as soon as possible.

The nets are removed during winter due to whale season.

Advocacy groups have referred to the nets as "curtains of death" as they caught hundreds of mammals including turtles, a dolphin and a humpback whale in the 2021 to 2022 season.

Last week, asurfer was mauled by a suspected great white shark off the coast of Port Macquarie, an area outside the area affected by today's netting.

Toby Begg suffered serious injuries to his legs in the attack after he was forced to fight off the shark and get himself to shore.
