Late on Friday authorities had to temporarily halt the kilometres-long queue as too many people had joined the long procession to pay their respects.

The surging wait times didn't even turn celebrities away with soccer star David Beckham waiting 12 hours to pay his respects to Her Majesty.

The royal family has also paid their respects to the Queen's coffin with her four children standing in a vigil for 15 minutes at Westminster Hall.

Third man arrested over fatal Brisbane stabbing, one still on the run

A third man has been arrested over the alleged fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Levi Johnson outside a Brisbane gym on Monday.

Queensland Police say 35-year-old Thomas Myler had allegedly been on the run since Johnson was killed on Monday in broad daylight outside a gym park in Mansfield.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said a member of the public reported seeing the car used in the "horrific" attack on Johnson which led police to Myler's whereabouts.

Levi Johnston, 23, was dragged out of his car in what police called a "disturbing and brazen" ambush at a carpark outside a gym in Mansfield.

He added Myler and his girlfriend were at a Chandler residence allegedly attempting to bury firearms.

Myler's girlfriend is currently undergoing questioning and police are deciding whether to lay any charges in relation to aiding Myler in avoiding police custody.

Police also located a white Nissan Patrol believed to have been used in Monday's attack.

Police are searching for Kyle Martin who allegedly was involved in the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old man in Mansfield.

Officers are still searching for 24-year-old Kyle Martin for the offence of murder, with the circumstance of aggravation that he and Myler were members of a criminal organisation at the time.

"We have updated images of him, there is some clear CCTV footage that we released earlier tonight, once again we call on the public for assistance he is potentially armed and dangerous as I suspected today," Massingham said.

Martin was captured on CCTV footage running through the busy Carindale shopping centre just before the attack.

Massingham said Myler was armed prior to surrendering to police.

Police believe Myler and Martin split up after the alleged attack and have stayed on the run locally instead of fleeing across the border.

Massingham also added the relationship between the two men seemed "fractured".

"It would appear from some words spoken by this man that relationship was somewhat fractured," he said.

Kyle Martin captured on CCTV after the alleged fatal stabbing of Levi Johnson at Mansfield.

Earlier this week two other men, both aged 34, were charged with murder and related offences over the killing.

Massingham said it was believed the men could all be linked to the "fairly unknown" 13 Kings gang, which has a presence in Capalaba.

He said police believed the men had been watching the victim before he was attacked on Monday.

He said detectives believed the victim realised he was being followed and pulled into the car park of a Mansfield gym to seek refuge when he was allegedly attacked about 1pm on Monday.

The victim was allegedly pursued by a black Audi and rammed by a Nissan Patrol before five men piled out of the cars and smashed the driver's side window with a crowbar.

Police say they chased the victim as he tried to flee from the passenger door, and that he was stabbed multiple times in the torso by one of the men before four of the men fled in the Nissan Patrol.

The fifth man fled on foot.

Superintendent Massingham said police had not found the Nissan Patrol, which they believed was still in the area.

In a break with royal tradition, Prince Andrew – the Queen's second son – wore his military uniform for the vigil despite stepping away from his royal duties in 2019.

While custom dictates that only working members of the royal family wear military uniforms during ceremonial occasions, Andrew was allowed to wear his during the vigil as a mark of special respect for the Queen.

Many other members of the royal family came to observe the vigil. Camilla, the Queen Consort, accompanied the King.

The Queen's granddaughters Zara Tindall and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were there, as was the Queen's cousin Prince Michael of Kent.

Seen for the first time since the Queen's death last Thursday, some of the Queen's great-grandchildren were also in attendance.

The Queen has been lying in state in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, since Wednesday.

The medieval hall is where the Queen's ancestors also lay in state.

Her father King George VI in 1952, her mother Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother in 2002, her grandfather George V in 1936 and her great-grandfather Edward VII in 1910 – the first royal to lie in state.

The Queen's coffin is draped with the Royal Standard and has the Imperial State Crown, the Orb and the Sceptre lying on top of it.

The public has a chance to view the closed coffin in person until 6.30am on Monday, when the hall will close in preparations for the state funeral later that morning.

The queue to pay respects reached as much as 16km on Friday and had to be closed repeatedly after hitting its maximum capacity.

At one point the wait was at least 14 hours, according to the official tracker provided by the government but other estimates reached as high as 24 hours.

The continuous watch inside Westminster Hall is being kept by the King's Body Guards of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, the Royal Company of Archers, the Yeomen of the Guard assisted by the Yeomen Warders of the Tower of London and by Officers of the Household Division during the lying in state and lying at rest.

Each watch lasts for six hours, with individuals within those watches keeping vigil for 20 minutes at a time.

The royal vigil on Friday evening took place alongside the military watch and was similar to the one the Queen's children held in St Giles' Cathedral in Scotland earlier this week.

The Queen's eight grandchildren are expected to take the same spot on Saturday evening when it will be their time to stand vigil beside their grandmother's coffin.

Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will stand at the head of the coffin, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will stand at its foot.

The Prince of Wales is expected to be flanked by Zara Tindall and Peter Philips, who are the children of Princess Anne.

The Duke of Sussex will be flanked by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew, alongside Prince Edward's children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn.
