'Apocalyptic' fire destroys $24 million luxury home in Sydney
Witnesses of an enormous fire that destroyed a $24 million Sydney home have described the blaze as "apocalyptic" as forensic investigators seek to gain access to the charred property.

"It was quite apocalyptic, it was a huge firestorm and it raged for about 40 to 50 minutes," witness Wayne Rigney said.

Forensic officers on scene are working to gain access to the Cliff Road property, making sure it's structurally safe.
In a statement, Fire and Rescue NSW said the home was "totally destroyed".
"More than 50 firefighters took just under an hour to control the fire which had engulfed the home, causing the roof and other parts of the home to collapse," a spokesperson said.
"Crews were able to stop the blaze from spreading to neighbouring properties.
"One FRNSW crew remained on site overnight to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and there were no reignitions."
Over 30 calls were made to Triple Zero during the Northwood blaze.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry said the incident is a reminder of how quickly a fire can become life-threatening or can destroy an entire home.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
The manor-style home consists of six bedrooms, a tennis court, an orchard and stone boat house.
It was purchased in November last year by one of the biggest land owners in the area.
Nobody was injured as there was nobody living in the home at the time.
