Full STEAM Ahead As Barbados Science Students Launch Lunchbox Rockets.

Students from two high schools and five primary schools in Barbados learned yesterday about the importance of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). They were reminded that science is part of everything they do, including something as simple as breathing.

This was part of the STEAM Learning Outreach Project, organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of McGill’s Bellairs Research Institute, located at Folkestone Marine Park, Holetown, St. James.

Census That Is Not A Census In Guyana.

The government of Guyana is creating a national database to make it easier to distribute future cash grants. This is part of the ongoing registration process for the $100,000 cash grant initiative, says the government in a press release on its web site.

The Guyanese government’s $100,000 cash grant is for every citizen aged 18 and over, not just heads of households. Initially, the plan was to provide $200,000 per household, but this was changed to $100,000 per adult to ensure fairness and simplicity.

The United States is facing a growing shortage of registered nurses as the baby boomer generation ages, increasing the demand for health care.

The freeze has raised concerns among healthcare professionals, as foreign nurses constitute about 15% of the U.S. nursing workforce. This is relatively few compared to 30% of nurses in the UK being foreign-born, but it could still have a significant effect on health care in the US.
