A crocodile has been filmed snatching a pet dog from the shoreline in Far North Queensland.

Video shows the huge crocodile sneaking up on two dogs before snatching one while the other runs away near Wiepa in Cape York.

The owner of the pet dogs warned others to stay safe near the water when the video was posted to social media yesterday.

Queensland's Department of Environment and Science is investigating the incident.

The department warns people to be "croc-wise in croc country".

This includes obeying signs, never swimming and standing a few metres back from the water's edge when fishing.

Police say family of the person killed in rural tragedy are being supported.

The Queenslander who went on a drunk, naked rampage in an ultra-conservative Indonesian province is "extremely remorseful" for his actions.

Bodhi Mani Risby-Jones, a 23-year-old from Noosa, was detained in the early hours of Thursday morning in the country's province of Aceh.

Risby-Jones' family have released a statement on his behalf in which they said he was "disturbed by his actions and takes full responsibility for them".

"To all who I have disrespected and hurt, I am truly sorry, please forgive me," Risby-Jones said in the statement.

"He is extremely remorseful and apologetic and acknowledges the pain he has caused the victim Mr Edi Ron and his family," his family said.

"He further acknowledges the waste of resources his actions have caused the Simeulue Police and Mr Jatmiko and Mr Mayyuhdi."

The police report said local Edi Ron suffered injuries to his feet after Risby-Jones allegedly pushed a motorcycle into him.

Ron received 50 stiches in hospital.

The Australian's drunk, naked rampage through the streets prompted residents to threaten to burn the Moon Beach Resort down on the surfing island, off the coast of Sumatra.

The victim's wife Eri Saljuana had made a report to police, who named Risby-Jones as a suspect, and four witnesses had been questioned.

His family said he was embarrassed and ashamed of his behaviour.

Risby-Jones told his family he wanted to apologise to Saljuana, the witnesses and the Indonesian people for disrespecting their culture and laws.

Risby-Jones also apologised to Australia for "embarrassing them".

Public canings are a regular punishment in the province, meaning the 23-year-old could be lashed up to 40 times, as well as face five years in prison if convicted.

The province enforces Sharia law, meaning the sale and consumption of alcohol is banned.

Police chief Jatmiko – who, like many Indonesians, goes by one name – confirmed the Queenslander would not be deported.

He is expected to face court next week.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has issued a severe weather warning for New South Wales south coast residents as Australia's east endures a wet weekend.

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is preparing for moderate to heavy rainfall over the coast south of Sydney, including winds strong enough to topple trees and powerlines.

Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding along the coast between Nowra and Batemans Bay as a low-pressure system brings rain, windy conditions and cool gusts from late Saturday and into Sunday.

SES state duty commander Nicole Hogan urged people to prepare for the conditions and warned residents to not drive, walk or ride through floodwaters.

"Localised flash flooding could result in roads being closed at short notice. Please do not take the risk and find an alternate route if you need to travel," she said.

"Landslips are also possible, and I would urge the public to remain vigilant."

NSW SES Units in the Illawarra and South Coast region are ready to respond to calls for assistance.

The storm will also impact Queensland and Victoria, with wet weather also expected in South Australia. 

New South Wales

At least 30mm of rainfall is forecast for Sydney on Saturday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised residents to stay updated with the most recent weather updates, as heavy rainfall could hit harder for some in the east.

"We are expecting moderate to heavy falls, as well as some gusty winds developing as a low-pressure system develops," Mirium Bradbury from the Bureau of Meteorology said.

Gale-force winds were expected along the south coast on Sunday, with the Hunter and Sydney coasts also set for strong winds.

Sunday could see a minimum of 25mm of rainfall hit the south coast on Sunday.

The rain will ease by Monday before temperatures warm on Tuesday.

Queensland

Southern Queensland is also expected to be impacted by the storm, with hazardous surf warnings in place along the Fraser Coast, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Swimmers and surfers have been advised to stay out of the water by Surf Life Saving Queensland.

The state will also experience scattered showers on Saturday, with isolated thunderstorms expected in Queensland's inner south. 

The wet weather should clear by Sunday for most regions but Townsville will continue to experience isolated storms.

Hazardous surf may continue into Sunday.

Victoria

Victoria will also face wet weather this weekend, with cloudy skies and scattered rainfall forecast for the state's east.

Saturday will see a small amount of rain hit Victoria, with light winds up to 20km/h expected to gust through Melbourne. 

The East Gippsland Coast has been issued a strong wind warning for Sunday as rainfall is expected to continue over the area.

Morning fog is also expected in the northwest and western parts of Victoria.

The rain is expected to clear by Sunday with a dry and sunny day forecast everywhere besides the far southwest – which will experience isolated scattered storms. 

South Australia 

A high-pressure ridge will cause cold south and south-westerly winds in South Australia.

The state will also experience patchy rainfall in the northeast on Saturday, expected to clear by the late morning.

Showers will continue through the southern parts of the state.

Isolated showers will continue into Sunday, with cloudy skies and rainfall expected in the state's south.

Cool and light winds will continue to blow through the state on Sunday.

Scattered showers are expected to continue through for the rest of the week.

Western Australia 

Light showers are expected in some parts of Western Australia for Saturday and Sunday, while the Hedland and Burrup districts are bracing for extreme fire danger.

The South West Land Division can expect cool mornings on Saturday, with early morning frost expected through the Great Southern area.

Light showers will continue through to Sunday, with possible showers in the west Pilbara and northwest Gascoyne areas.

There is also a slight chance of thunderstorms in the far Northern Kimberley.

Showers are expected to move through the state on Monday and Tuesday.

Tasmania

Tasmania will have a mostly clear and sunny weekend, with some early morning showers in the west, far south and Bass Strait Islands on Saturday.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, with some patchy inland frost in the morning.

Northern Territory 

The Northern Territory can expect some light showers on Saturday morning in the eastern Simpson District.

Showers will clear by the afternoon.

Gusty and cool winds will also blow through Renner Springs and will move north towards Elliot by the afternoon.

There is a moderate fire danger warning for the Simpson, Tanami, southern Barkly and western Lasseter Districts.

Sunday will bring a small chance of showers in the Daly River Mouth and Wadeye regions.

The rest of the territory can expect clear and sunny weather.
