The family of a paramedic who was allegedly stabbed to death at a Sydney McDonald's said he "touched the lives of so many people".

Steven Tougher, 29, married the love of his life last month and his second baby is due in just a few weeks.

On Saturday afternoon, his wife, parents and sister issued a statement on behalf of the entire family, saying the young paramedic's compassion was "exceptional".

"Steven's dedication to helping others shone brightest during his work as a NSW Ambulance paramedic and previously as a nurse," the family said.

"But it wasn't just his medical expertise that made him exceptional – Steven's compassion touched the lives of so many people.

"He had a way of calming fears, offering words of solace, and showing kindness in the midst of chaotic or traumatic events.

"Steven had an uncanny ability to connect with people, to truly understand their needs, and to provide care with genuine warmth and empathy."

"He was always ready with a smile, a kind word, or a lending hand and brought joy to those around him.

"As we are still coming to terms with our loss, our family requests privacy at this time"

The young father was allegedly stabbed to death while on a break with his colleagues on Friday morning.

A 21-year-old man faced court today charged with murder.

Currently about 40 bunches of flowers have been placed at the McDonald's in Campbelltown after the alleged stabbing occurred about 5.30am.

Among the items is a NSW Ambulance hat and a stethoscope.

A retired paramedic also left a letter that said "prayer to you, brother. Your shift has ended. Rest in peace".

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park told Today said the pain and suffering his family was going through was something no one could "pretend to imagine".

"A gentleman who was doing his job, serving his community, a gentleman who loved the paramedics, he loved his family, he was due to be a dad again in just a few months' time and it's absolutely heartbreaking," Park said.

"There are recommendations to keep our paramedics safer, we'll make sure they are carried through and implemented.

He said there is an ongoing trial of body-worn cameras for paramedics.

"We will make sure that every available support and resource is wrapped around his colleagues and is wrapped around his family and loved ones as they go through what is a very, very difficult time."

Tougher was having a break when a 21-year-old man allegedly approached him with a knife and stabbed him repeatedly in the stomach.

His colleague was able to raise the alarm and police were there within minutes but Tougher died in hospital.

Grant Alfred Beaumont's death was announced in the funeral notices in Adelaide, 57 years after his children vanished.

The elder Beaumont, who was also known as Jim, died aged 97 on April 9.

"Loved father of Jane, Arnna and Grant," the notice read.

"Reunited in heaven."

Jane, 9, Arnna, 7, and Grant, 4, disappeared on Australia Day 1966 after never returning from a day trip to Glenelg Beach.

No one has ever been charged with their abduction though there have been many suspects over the following decades.

Police believe the three children were murdered.

Police are yet to close the case, and a million-dollar reward remains for anyone who can solve it.

The elder Beaumont separated from his wife Nancy in the early 1970s.

She died in 2019.

He was privately cremated, the death notice stated.

Queensland Police are investigating two stabbings which they believe are linked after a fight in Brisbane last night.

The first stabbing occurred after a group of people had a fight at a home on Madgwick Street in Wynnum just before 5pm.

"During the altercation, a 30-year-old Wynnum man sustained serious stab wounds," Queensland Police said in a statement.

"He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he remains in a stable condition."

Police said not long after members of the public found a man in his 20s on the side of the road with stab wounds on Arundel Street in Alexandra Hills just before 6pm.

"Police believe the man was assaulted at a Longlands Street, Cleveland address before being driven to Alexandra Hills," Queensland Police said.

He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with a critical injury.

Police are investigating and believe both incidents are linked.

A shortage of one of the most common antibiotics in Australia has been reported by the country's top medicine regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

Manufacturing issues mean there are not enough dosages of phenoxymethylpenicillin (Penicillin V) oral liquid and suspension products.

Part of the penicillin antibiotic group, the drug is used to treat bacterial infections.

The liquid form of the drug is used most commonly for acute pharyngitis, tonsilitis, scarlet fever, acute rheumatic fever and dental infections.

The drug is also available in pill form, but for many with those conditions, swallowing a tablet is difficult.

The TGA has issued a Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument (SSSI), which allows it to change the rules around prescribing it.

That means pharmacists can issue a different but very similar medicine without the prior authorisation of the prescriber.

Doctors have been advised to consider prescribing the drug in pill form for most adults to reserve the liquid form for children and adults who have difficulty swallowing.

Pharmacists are also authorised to supply a solid dosage if the patient is able to take it in that form.

The SSSI will remain in place until the end of September, but it can be lifted early or extended as the situation changes.

Patients who need the drug are advised to speak to their doctors or pharmacist if they have any questions.

"Please keep in mind that health professionals at the medical practices and pharmacies you visit want the best possible health outcomes for everyone, but they do not control the availability of phenoxymethylpenicillin," a statement from the TGA read.

"Please do not take any frustration or anger out on your pharmacist or doctor."

Phenoxymethylpenicillin was developed in 1948 as one of the first antibiotics and as a variation of previous pencillins.

Police are searching for the driver of a car who left a cyclist in a "life-threatening" condition in Melbourne earlier this month.

The 30-year-old man was riding along Brunswick Street in North Fitzroy near the Fitzroy Bowls Club when he was hit by a black Volkswagen hatchback about 3.15am on April 3.

Victoria Police said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains more than a week later.

"The driver, who was believed to be the sole occupant of the vehicle, parked away from the scene before walking back to take a look at the injured cyclist and then driving away," Victorian police said in a statement.

Police have released a CCTV image of the man they believe was the driver.
